Our Awards and Recognition
Throughout the years, TCF’s various programs have reaped awards and recognition from different award giving bodies as follows:
GEM-Tech Awards 2014: “Closing the ICT Gender Gap – Ensuring ICT Accessibility for Women”. The Gender Equality Mainstreaming – Technology (GEM-Tech) Award is an international recognition created by the UN Women and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) that highlights the outstanding work of organizations closing the ICT gender gap and ensuring accessibility for women and girls to ICT training and education. The TC Women program is the first ever organization to receive such award.
Internet Awards 2014: TCF was a finalist under the Social Action Category during the Internet Awards 2014 which was organized by the Association of Internet Users based in Spain in line with the celebration of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day in May. The Internet Awards search for high-impact and large-scale initiatives that enable a massive access and usage of ICT and Internet resources worldwide. Telecentre Foundation is considered one of the world’s largest social networks, currently empowering more than one billion people with ICT and Internet resources.
WSIS Project Prizes 2012: At the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Project Prizes 2012, TCF’s Global Community Program bagged the award under the “Cultural Diversity and Identity, Linguistic Diversity, and Local Content” category. The award is given by a selected number of organizations lead by the International Communication Union (ITU). TCF’s Global Community Program includes five community sites in five different languages that facilitate the interaction and collaboration of individuals and organizations in multiple ICT4D project and initiatives. More than ten thousand practitioners, experts and professional are regular members of this global community lead by Telecentre Foundation.
