GK3: Third Global Knowledge Conference

Created By admin on 31-Oct-2007 6:56 PM

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Date(s): 11-Dec-2007 to 13-Dec-2007

GK3 represents a major milestone for telecentre.org. It offers a place for our partners to gather, show their work, and map the future. This will happen in three ways:
  • Telecentre Leaders Forum: A participatory two-day gathering of telecentre.org's core grassroots partners. This will take place on December 9 and 10 — the two days before GK3.
  • Telecentre Track Sessions: A series of workshops and panels about telecentres within the main GK3 program, organized into an informal track.
  • telecentre.org Village: An exhibition of telecentre models from around the world, which also doubles as a presentation and networking space for the telecentre.org community.
telecentre.org's efforts at GK3 will also provide an opportunity for established partners to step into a stronger leadership position within the community, acting as co-organizers for major events and as ambassadors reaching out to new partners. More specific objectives include:

  • Explain: help more people understand telecentre.org by creating a place for partners to talk about the work they do and the global movement they are building.
  • Deepen: create a platform that helps partners connect to each other, strengthens the feeling of belonging within the telecentre.org community, and nurtures new community leaders from the grassroots.
  • Grow: identify new opportunities for partnership and extend the telecentre.org community to new parts of the globe.
Partnership will be core to our presence at GK3 — as it is at every event. Also, partnership will be a major topic of discussion at telecentre.org sessions. We want to showcase and share what real partnership looks like.
