The East African Telecentre network staff exchange program was completed on 22nd Feb. '08 here at the UgaBYTES secretariat. It had alot of energy and
commitments; we pray to God to guide us achieve them. The event was attended by representatives from Kenya's KenTel, Tanzania's TTN, Rwanda's RTN,
Burundi's BCTN and participants from UgaBYTES staff. During the gathering network leaders were joined by telecentre.org's Shaddy and Meddie Mayanja in
a conference call that aimed at sharing the commitment and againing feedback on key issues. The program was funded by telecentre.org as social investment
of IDRC, Microsoft corporation and SDC. Among the key outcomes of the program was the resolution to;
1. establish an East African telecentre academy;
2. online community of telecentre practitioners;
3. Award recognizing telecentre researchers, bloggers, trainers and best
story;
4. commitment for financial sustainability;
5. legilization of national networks by end of 3 months;
6. engagement in regional telecentre staff exchanges.
