Implications of BCTN registration

On 11 July, the Ministry of Interior and Communal Development acknowledged Burundi Community Telecentre Network (BCTN) as a lawful Not for profit organisation in Burundi (Registration no. 530/723).

This marks yet another fundamental achievement in the telecentre ecosystem in as far as strengthening collaboration is concerned.
I take this opportunity to congratulate Jean Paul Nkurunziza and the rest of the team in Burundi for getting the network registered.

However, a challenging venture to help the network operate effectively and efficiently emerges. Even more challenging however, is the desire to move beyond mere management of the network into an atmosphere where national telecentre practitioners find the network rewarding to themselves and the entire community.

Therefore, BCTN working closely with already existing networks is critical in order to realize its objectives.

It is also important to recognize the role the Telecentre Times publications played in this remarkable registration. (Nkunzinza last week reported how significant the publications were during the registration process).

Notably, BCTN was formed in 2006. One and a half years down the road, it has displayed great commitment to fulfill its dreams.

Bravo! Jean Paul
