Digital Literacy Campaign gains momentum: 100,000+ women trained, 65 countries participating
A total of 102,461 women around the world have received training in digital literacy from partners of the Telecentre Women: Digital Literacy Campaign, the global initiative led by the ITU and Telecentre.org Foundation. Since the campaign’s launch in Chile last April 7, 2011, the campaign has garnered interest from various regions around the world, gathering support from partners in 65 countries, 6 regional telecentre networks, and the private sector such as Intel. Director of Operations Tess Camba, who is leading the campaign effort, expressed her gratitude to partners saying,”I would like to thank all our partners in this campaign. Achieving this milestone has only been possible because of the commitment and energy brought in by our campaign partners from around the world. We look forward to reaching out to more women through our partners in the months to come.”
The campaign seeks to train 1 million women by the end of 2012.
