Telecentre.org Foundation recognises pioneers of telecentre movement

Pioneers of the telecentre movement were recognised last April 5, 2011 at the Gala-Welcome Dinner held at the Restaurant Hotel San Francisco in Santiago, Chile. The Gala-Welcome Dinner celebrated the opening of the 3rd Global Forum on Telecentres, which takes place on April 5-7 at the Center Gabriela Mistral (GAM), also in Santiago.

A brief awards ceremony during the Gala-Welcome Dinner, which was hosted by Miguel Raimilla working the Asociación de Telecentros Activos de Chile (ATACH) and Tess Camba, Operations Director of Telecentre.org Foundation, provided the opportunity for Telecentre.org Foundation to bestow awards on the following recipients:

• Richard Fuchs - Lifetime Achievement Award
• Akhtar Badshah – Telecentre Funder of the Decade Award
• Polly Gaster- Executive Director’s Choice Award
• Santhanakrishnan Senthikumaran - Executive Director’s Choice Award

Telecentre.org Foundation Executive Director Basheerhamad Shadrach was also presented with a token of recognition for his valuable contribution to the global telecentre movement while ATACH received a token of appreciation for co-hosting the 3rd Global Forum on Telecentres.
