The Zambia telecentre workshop establishes, endorses a national telecentre network

By Dean Mulozi, SATNET, Lusaka, Zambia.
Zambia, with a growing need for ICT universal access, challenges of power and ICT infrastructure particularly to its rural populace, joins the telecentre community aroun the world through the formation of a national telecentre network. Current statistics indicate that only about 30% of the population has access to voice communications and 18,000 to internet services.

Botswana ICT stakeholders charts the way to a National Telecenter Network

Modern ICTs are increasingly becoming important instruments that facilitate access to social and economic information for development around the world. Multi-purpose telecenters or simply community telecenters are service delivery centers for livelihood development. However, in some African countries, telecenters and development projects alike operate in isolation and at times do not benefit from various opportunities and resources that exist around themselves.

Two rural Zambian Telecenters to receive skills tranfer from Radboud University students

Zambian telecenters like any other southern African country outside South Africa still suffer from lack of skills, resources and capacity to manage their telecenters. a number of reasons could be attributed to the problem.
