Philippines, August 24, 2011 – Telecentre.org Foundation is supporting the ITU in its celebration of Telecom World 2011. The event, which will take place in Geneva on October 24-27, brings together industry CEOs and world leaders, digital experts, technology gurus, and grassroots technology pioneers to tackle core issues shaping the global ICT landscape in the age of broadband technology. In a departure from previous Telecom World events, Telecom World 2011 will dispense with the traditional exhibition show floor and instead focus on facilitating knowledge sharing, networking, deal making and consensus building.
Telecentre.org Foundation’s Acting Executive Director Tess Camba expressed her full support of the event saying, “Telecom World 2011 is a wonderful opportunity for our members in the rural and remote areas to be heard by people in the industry who are also in the position to make a difference. Through this event, people across the globe will be able to share their ideas and stories as well as collectively contribute to formulating solutions to some of the world’s most pressing concerns. We are extremely pleased to support ITU in an initiative that will benefit our telecentre community.” Telecentre.org Foundation is currently partnering with the ITU for the Telecentre Women: Digital Literacy Campaign, which runs till December 2012.
