What’s the latest on the Telecentre Academy?

Telecentre AcademyBig news from Telecentre Academy (TCA)! In October last year, we welcomed Ana Agudo as the new TCA Program Manager. Ana is a former member of the Guadalinfo team and was the Spark Forum Project Manager. She has created a new dynamic of work among members of the TCA team, with great positive effects, and we are very grateful for the contributions that she has made so far.

And here’s another piece of great news: since Dec 2013, Google has become a key partner of TCF and TCA! Together, we are about to deliver a training and certification program specially developed to expand the knowledge and understanding of Google tools and its applications on multiple educational and business settings. The training will have a special focus on Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific.  Thus, we are in the middle of intense planning and preparations with multiple partners from these regions.

The first Google course will be delivered with the new model and management approach of TCA, a beta test that will help our partners master the whole set of components and procedures developed for TCA.  Soon after that, we will continue the expansion of the model by introducing a new portfolio of courses that combine free and paid content, content for beginners and for the tech-savvy.  We are expecting the growth of this portfolio of courses, thanks to contributions from key telecentre networks and other specialized content providers.

A key component of TCA’s new model is the revenue scheme that has been developed to contribute to the sustainability of telecentres, telecentre managers and TCF. TCA is also improving its learning platform for a much effective learning experience.  In this way, we continue the path towards the transformation of telecentres into innovation hubs for quality training and education for all, and promote social entrepreneurship among those communities that need it most.

Lastly, TCA will also offer special opportunities for a close collaboration with national and regional telecentre networks as well as other ICT organizations interested in bringing quality content to a large and diverse number of people. We are currently in the process of establishing these key partnerships to secure the success of TCA.  Everyone interested will be able to go online and learn at the TCA portal, and receive great support for finding a partner organization in your region of choice.
